Abstract: The Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) is the prestigious annual event organized by Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS). The 30ACRS2009 was held at Beijing Conference Center in Beijing, China from 18 to 23 October 2009. This paper provides information on preparation, organization and other important aspects of the 30ACRS2009.
1 Introduction
Year 2009 had a special meaning in the Asian remote sensing history- the 30th anniversary of ACRS since the first conference held in Bangkok Thailand in 1980.
After having successfully held the 2nd and 11th ACRS respectively in Beijing in 1981 and in Guangzhou in 1990, and the 20th ACRS in Hong Kong China in 1999, the 30th ACRS was held in Beijing again from 18 to 23 October, 2009 at Beijing Conference Center. This event was organized by Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS) and China National Committee on Remote Sensing (CNCRS), jointly hosted by Institute of Remote Sensing Applications CAS (IRSA), Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth CAS (CEODE), China Aero Geophysical Survey and Remote Sensing Center for Land and Resources (AGRS), and National Remote Sensing Center of China (NRSCC). As a member of Asian remote sensing family, China has demonstrated their achievements and progress during the development of remote sensing technologies and applications in the conference.
As a united and coordinated Organization, China National Committee on Remote Sensing (CNCRS) welcomed ardently all participants from Asia and other countries of the world and did its best to organize a successful conference in Beijing.
